Bringing the outside into the office...

Here is a little project I did
because I wanted to bring a plant into my office,
and I didn't just want to put it in a cookie cutter pot:

Boy! Does that look bright!

This was a very quick project, and it cost just $2.29.

It is a classic Terra cotta pot & base
but I wanted to keep busy and make it unique,
so I decided to paint it.

The color in the photo is much more purple than it really is.
Its more of a blue.

It's so bright, I'm a little fearful of what it will look like at my desk.

This was a quick and easy project that was a nice way
to keep busy. I'm envisioning a multitude of colorful
shiny pots in a row, or maybe on different shelves, hmmm...

I hope you get the chance to be creative today!

Decorating my office space

The first thing my husband said when he looked at my pictures was,
"Why is it crooked?"

But I did that on purpose! I thought it looked fun!
This is on a wall in my cubicle at work -

First I found an old frame that could hold an 8 X 11 picture. Then I removed its "innards".

Next I decided on the quote I wanted, I printed it out, placed it on a piece of colored scrapbook paper, placed it into a laminate cover, and laminated it. I purposefully made it smaller than 8 X 11. I wasn't sure if I should waste the laminate on it, but I loved how bright it made it.

Then today I brought two upholstery pins in to work. I placed them into the wall of my cubicle at an angle, about 5 inches apart.

I then hung the frame on the pins. Then I took a push-pin and stuck my quote into the wall within the frame. FUN!

Here is the quote I chose. It is from lithographer Herm Albright.

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."

I hope you get the chance to be creative today!

Desk Accessories for MY NEW JOB!

I didn't mention this last week, but for my birthday I also received a new lunch bag for my NEW JOB! This was so exciting because my birthday was the day I sealed the deal for the new position. I'm not sure what my desk or the office will look like, but in the meantime I am preparing to make some desk decorations to make my office my own. I'd like to use scrapbook papers and items I have around the house. I have been looking at some blogs for some ideas and here are some ideas I'm considering...

I love this photo block, and I love the color combinations that Amy Anderson used. I am a thinking this might be too large for an office desk, but its so cute I'm going to make it for the house.

These items are exactly the type that I was thinking of - but the colors are a little too muted for me. I am going to try to make this but will go with bright contrasting colors OR earthy tones. Christie Wallace from Australia showcased this set on her site tonight and was even hosting a scrap party to make them. Too bad I live a little too far away...

I love the colors in this calendar. In fact, I love this calendar. The author also has a terrifically detailed tutorial. I am so glad I have a few weeks before I start my new job, because I should have just enough time to get these projects done! After work, of course.

I'll post what I make here on the site.
Now I'm off to keep browsing for more office decor ideas...
